FIRST LEGO League (FLL) Robotics - Challenge

Grade Level: 4th - 5th
Purpose: FIRST LEGO League Challenge introduces science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) to children ages 4-8th grades, through fun, exciting hands-on learning. Participants gain real-world problem-solving experiences through a guided, global robotics program, helping today’s students and teachers build a better future together.

Purpose: FIRST LEGO League Explore (FLLE) (formerly known as FIRST Lego League Jr.) is a non-competitive robotics program designed for children ages six to ten. It is one of the programs established by FIRST.

Purpose: HPS-wide/ Regional Competition - Presented in partnership with FTW Robotics and Rice University, HPS Drone Race is the perfect event offering elementary, middle school and high school students an opportunity to get hands-on experience in STEM education in the form of an affordable, fast-paced game. Students will learn to safely operate a drone, work as a team, and research workforce applications of aerial robotic technology; all while having a blast!

Science Olympiad

Purpose: Science Olympiad is an American team competition in which students compete in 23 events pertaining to various scientific disciplines, including earth science, biology, chemistry, physics, and engineering. Over 7,800 middle school and high school teams from 50 U.S. states compete each year.[1][2][3] U.S. territories do not compete; however, since 2012 high school teams from Japan have competed at the national tournament as unranked guests.

Purpose: The purpose of the organization is to create a greater sense of responsibility within the student body; to strive for better student/faculty relationship; to promote unification of the student body and better representation of its ideas to the faculty and administration; to promote a positive attitude in the advancement of leadership and loyalty; to promote spirit in the school activities; as well as to uphold traditions and to set standards for generations of Harmony students to come. The objective of Student Council is to provide a service organization doing various activities within the community throughout the year, while developing student leaders.

National Elementary Honor Society (NEHS)

Purpose: The National Elementary Honor Society (NEHS) was established in 2008 by the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) in partnership with the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP). NEHS recognizes students in both public and nonpublic elementary schools for their outstanding academic achievement and demonstrated personal responsibility. Through NEHS, students provide meaningful service to the school and community and develop essential leadership skills. NEHS supports these purposes by strengthening the lives of our nation’s elementary students and the schools in which they are enrolled.
