About
Every student. A brighter future.
Harmony Public Schools is a tuition-free network of public charter schools across Texas. We help students build the skills, confidence, and character to succeed in school and in life — with a strong focus on STEM.
A tuition-free public school built around STEM
Harmony Public Schools is a network of more than 70 public charter schools across Texas. Public charter schools are free to attend and open to all students. We opened our first school in Houston in 2000. Today, we serve close to 50,000 students in seven regions of the state.
Our classrooms focus on science, technology, engineering, and math — what we call STEM. Students learn by doing real projects, not just reading about ideas. We are proud to serve students from every background. Our goal is simple. We help each child get ready for college, a career, and a life of giving back.
Learning by doing, from day one

25 years of Harmony
We started with one school and a big idea. Twenty-five years later, that idea has grown across Texas.
It all begins
In 2000, our first school opened in Houston with 200 students. In 2001, we became the first charter school to win awards at the Houston science and engineering fair. By 2004, new schools opened in Austin and Dallas.
Finding our footing
Our very first class graduated in 2005. We built one central team to keep every school strong. We also earned a national award for helping students close learning gaps. In 2007, we opened our first campus designed for STEM, with special labs and maker spaces.
Growing fast
By 2012, more than 23,000 students called Harmony home. A major grant helped us bring "STEM for All" to life. We added project-based learning in every high school — and our students began choosing STEM degrees at twice the national rate.
A national name
Texas lifted its limit on charter schools. Harmony grew to serve more than 35,000 students at 50 campuses. We gave every student a digital device. We also won an $8 million grant to bring STEM to our youngest learners.
Strong and still rising
When the pandemic hit, we kept learning going. We gave out laptops, hotspots, and free tutoring. We also opened Harmony Virtual Academy for students across the state. In 2024, most of our campuses earned an "A" from the state. And 96% of our seniors were ready for college, career, or the military. That year, we celebrated our largest graduating class ever — nearly 2,000 students.
